Modesto Occupational Medical Clinic ‘s HIPAA Compliance

This year the federal government has passed Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to insure privacy and confidentiality in all matters concerning storage use, transmission either electronically, by fax, voice, and any individually recognizable information.  We’ve changed very little of our policies besides the paper work.  The privacy and confidentiality of our patients have always been our primary concern.  If you are a Workers Comp patient it changes very little of what we’re allowed to give out.

We will discuss anything of a confidential nature or if there are any concerns you may have please do not hesitate to voice it to the Privacy Officer or bring them up at your office visits.  We certainly strictly follow the intent of the law, and will keep anything that you deem private and confidential, unless it breeches Federal or State law, or puts you or other people at more of a risk to comply with a new request concerning your records. Rest assured, my professional opinion (concerning what is in your best interest) will always follow good medical practice.  If possible, please ensure that your phone number and address are correct on the form so that if I do have any questions I will indeed call you at home.  If you have any questions I prefer that you E-mail me at Hipaa@momc.com to ensure that those questions are answered.  We will do our best to fulfill any requests; they will be discussed on an individual basis.

Please be assured that we always keep your records private and confidential, and if you observe any of my staff or myself breeching that confidentiality, please bring it to our attention.  Please let it be known either in writing, by e-mail, telephone call, or fax your concerns if you have any.  Rests assured that anything will go electronically on a 128-bit encryption, which is the same encryption in your credit card compliance to if we set it up on the web or set it up over the internet.

Your company, department, or district may already have a policy, which may include the Respiratory Protection Questionnaire following the specifications of Cal OSHA/OSHA Standards for any or all of the following standards: National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1582, up to the Labor Management Wellness-Fitness Initiation Standards.
